INTERVIEW WITH A REIKI MASTER

Susan Savannah is a Reiki Master. She has been a Reiki practitioner and teacher for over 10 years. Susan is my teacher, she is extremely talented and very inituitive. I interviewed Susan about Reiki and how it works.
Q: Susan, what is Reiki?
A: Reiki is a form of natural hands on healing. It helps to balance your emotions and all of your chakra points; which is how energy moves through our body. Everything in life has a life force energy to it, our plants, animals and all of us have that beautiful life force. Rei stands for Universal energy and Ki (also known as Chi or Prana) is the part of that energy that pulsates in us individually. So put together it is that beautiful life force energy that exists in all of the Universe that is individualized within us. So we all have this energy within us.
Reiki is a gentle beautiful, I like to call it, white light that moves through cleansing and clearing your chakra points. Chakra points are wheels or gears of energy that help to move the energy through your body from the top of your head down to your feet. Reiki helps to remove energy blocks that are physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. It brings balance back to the body and leaves you with a more peaceful feeling. Reiki accelerates the healing process.
Q: How does Reiki work?
A: A Reiki session occurs with a practitioner that has been attuned to Reiki. An attunement allows the energy to move through that person at a faster rate of speed or a higher vibration than most people. When a Reiki practitioner places their hands on another person to help to heal them they are basically there to act as a channel to assist that person with healing energy. The person’s body will take the life force energy they need, through the practitioner, like a pipeline. A Reiki session feels like you are floating on a cloud it is very peaceful. It is very relaxing you feel more balanced inside. Your energy is grounded which means your mind is quiet. It helps with issues such as insomnia, for people who can not shut their mind off. It helps to bring the energy from the head or the crown chakra down to their feet to help them feel more centered within themselves.
Reiki is able to heal ailments ranging from headaches and minor upset stomachs, to more serious illnesses. It is also helpful for mental and emotional healing. It can clear out past traumas. If you have experienced a traumatic event or something that has affected you emotionally such as the break up of a relationship or the loss of a loved one. It can be used clear old energy out of your auric field so that you can heal from that experience. It is amazing it can heal so many things.
Q: Where does Reiki originate from, what is it's history?
A: Reiki was discovered by a Christian Priest named Dr Usui. The traditional from of Reiki is called Usui Rhoyo Reiki. Dr Usui was a priest that was working at a small University in Kyoto, Japan. One day some of his senior students asked him if he believed in the healing miracles of Christ. Dr Usui answered yes to the question. So his students then asked if he could demonstrate that healing. He wasn’t able to demonstrate but this set him on a lifetime quest to find the answer as to how Christ healed.
What he did know was that Buddha had also possessed the power to heal so he went into the Buddhist monastery and started searching through Buddhist texts only to find that it was written in Sanskrit so first he had to learn the language before he could gain the knowledge. He was very tenacious and he went on to learn Sanskrit. He continued his quest and discovered through his own journey and meditations that there exists a beautiful healing energy and that this energy is our divine inheritance that all of us can draw from.
For instance what is the first thing that we do when we hurt ourselves? When we bump our head, we put our hand to our head. It is a natural reaction for us to heal ourselves. We hold our hand there until the pain dissipates. Reiki is actually a part of your natural ability to heal yourself. It just allows that energy to be opened up in a larger way for you. So it heals much quicker when you are attuned to that energy.
Anyone can do Reiki. I have taught children Reiki and I find that the sooner that someone learns how to do this healing work the better it is for them. They know their true essence and they end up being able to side step some of the things in life that can be challenges or blocks.
Q: Susan often you receive messages from spirit during a Reiki session where does that come from?
A: When you are connected with divine light basically you are a channel for that divine light so spirit likes to use us to channel messages. When you are doing a healing session on someone you are working right in their energy field and you are there to assist that person to connect with their inner self and with spirit. Sometimes spirit will have a message for that person that can assist them in their healing process.
The person receiving the message fully understands what spirit is trying to tell them. When that message comes often it creates a larger space for healing. Once the person has that knowledge or understanding that has come straight from divine energy through me it can help them on their path to healing. It helps them connect more fully with their own divine light which is their true essence.

Jewelee, I have been exploring different aspects of spirituality and I am still unsure about what area I should concentrate on or where my main talents lie. I have my Reiki level 2 but I am not sure that that is where I should focus my energy.I would like to know if you have any sense of what my psychic talents might be. Can you help?

Kathy, I see two very different directions for you (go figure since you are a gemini-lol) I see that you have very strong gut instincts that usually stem from clairvoyance and I would not be surprised to see that you get hunches or see things in people that are hidden. It's kind of like an inner knowing I have that very strong in me as well. Even though you have this ability this is not the direction I see you going. I just wanted to make you aware of this that is inside of you (and yes you can develop it to make it stronger) so that you can use it day to day in your personal life. This inner knowing will never lead you wrong use it if you are buying a car, driving to work, going on a date etc. You have a natural talent here use it to your best possible advantage.
Now the other talent I see in you is the ability to communicate and lead. You have way stronger talents in this direction. It is like this is your strong point so use the knowledge that you have, be it Reiki, Energy work etc (this is your natural gift) to teach and lead people. It is like you would not be satisfied just being a healer you have to have mental interaction with people and be hands on. Your true talents lie in helping others both emotionally and mentally. You would have the patience to sit and help someone build a website, get them on track with their business etc. Even your website is about helping others and bringing people together not about you. See what I mean you have a psychic gift but it is not what you are meant to do your true gift lies in teaching and helping others on the mental plane. Not to say that if someone needs Reiki you should not do it just to say don't put all your focus on starting a Reiki business.
