What has brought you to this work?

I worked in the insurance industry for 20 years and unknowingly over time, I let work become my life. After having what some called a nervous breakdown I learned how important it was to look after myself and to maintain balance in my life. I learned a number of different tools and techniques through my recovery and knew I needed to share these with others; yoga, meditation, and Therapeutic Touch to name a few. I now help inspire true life balance within the body, mind and soul of others on all levels: physical, mentally, energetically, emotionally and spiritually by offering services that I found very inspiring through my own journey to balance. I joined the Spiritual Niagara team in 2017, with my passion to help others holistically, it seemed natural for me to join this amazing team to fulfill my passion on a larger scale.

What services do you offer and how do they assist others?

Yoga
I have been trained in Classical Hatha Yoga, a tradition originating in India. I teach classes across the Niagara region, in various locations spas/martial art studios, retirement/nursing homes, offices, schools, homes to classes of all sizes and privately for individuals. My classes combine mindful movements, breathing, concentration, relaxation and meditation to allow your body to connect to your mind to help them work together.

Yoga was the way I learned how to become aware of what my body was telling me and gave me the relaxation my mind and body needed throughout my recovery.

Yoga Classes
I teach yoga classes at studios in the Fort Erie, Welland and Niagara Falls area and throughout the Niagara region.

Beyond Yoga Classes
I have designed a number of 8 week classes where I share yoga along with techniques that students can apply throughout the classes.
Here are a few of the classes I offer.

Yoga Nidra (with or without sound healing)
I lead yoga nidra classes which is a deep conscious relaxation meditation to release mental, physical and emotional tensions while rejuvenating the body mind and soul. This class is done on it’s own or with the healing power of sound incorporating the crystal bowls

Chair Yoga in Retirement and Nursing Homes
I had gone to school for nursing with a desire to work in a senior facility after high school but my path changed direction when at the time of graduation there were no jobs. I now travel to nursing and retirement homes to share chair yoga

Office Yoga
With having come from a corporate background and working in offices I realized how important taking breaks throughout the day were to help coordinate the body and mind along with increasing productivity. I provide what I like to call "Balance Breaks" teaching yoga; before, during or after work to give time to those who don’t make time for themselves. These are classes done in work clothes, taking a mindful moment to coordinate mind and body.

Yoga at Home
Sometimes people aren’t comfortable coming into a class with a group or can’t make it at the scheduled times, so I have been known to teach yoga in your home or at a time that is more convenient for you individually.

Healing Mantra Chanting
I offer mantra chanting classes in Fort Erie, Welland and Niagara Falls around the eve of the full moon to enhance the power of the mantra. This is a form of meditation where we concentrate on the mantra by chanting it aloud 108 times.
Meditation
I was trained in a one pointed meditation through my yoga certification but have also attended a Meditation course through the Willpower Institute in Niagara Falls, a Thai tradition called Samadhi where I learned more about the philosophy behind meditation and why it works so well for so many reasons.

Meditation classes
I hold meditation classes in Fort Erie and throughout the Niagara region, that includes gentle yoga, guided relaxation and meditation

Beyond Meditation
I have designed an 8 week meditation program where I shares different types of meditation I have learned throughout my journey and found beneficial when I was just starting out

Office Meditation
I travel to offices providing what I call "Balance breaks" teaching meditation; before, during or after work to give time to those who don’t make time for themselves.
Therapeutic Touch
Therapeutic Touch has been a big part of my life since 2004, it is a holistic, evidence-based therapy that incorporates the intentional and compassionate use of universal energy to promote balance and well being. Therapeutic Touch induces relaxation, reduces anxiety, changes the perception of pain, and facilitates the body’s natural healing process. I use my hands in your energy field to promote balance and harmony. This is a passive relaxation where you just sit and enjoy the relaxation taking part in your body, giving your body the time it needs to heal itself.

In the home or office
I come to you to provide the Therapeutic Touch treatment whether in your home or office. I also include this as a part of an office package.

Retirement and Nursing Homes
I also provide Therapeutic Touch treatments in senior care facilities
Life Coaching
Sometimes it is not always easy to make a change or keep motivated on what you want to accomplish in life, I can be that accountability partner to help you to identify your goals and keep you focused in order to achieve your goals.
Workshops
I hold workshops for individuals or groups who are interested

- Calm jar workshops
a fun creative class making beautiful jars to use when emotions are high or to help decompress from the day
- Self Care Retreat Days
a day to reconnect with yourself and learn and apply different techniques to look after yourself
- Meditation retreat Days
a day of learning different meditation techniques to be able to choose what type works the best for you
Inspirational Speaking
I believe looking after yourself is so important and I like to share this with others so I travel to different places to share my story with others to inspire them to become more aware of their holistic health.

What philosophy do you live by?

Everything happens for a reason, sometimes we don't always understand it, but we grow by learning from the lessons. I believe everyone is unique and what works for some doesn't work for all. By incorporating gratitude and self love in your life it will help to move through the ebbs and flows that everyone experiences.

Meditation
"Julie has such a calming energy and relaxing voice" "her love and energy is very noticeable" I really enjoyed Julie’s meditation class. Initially, it was a challenge for me to "slow down" and meditate. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to stop my mind from thinking so much about everything. Once I made the intention to attend classes every week, it became get easier to focus. I noticed that I was becoming more aware and in tune with my feelings, in turn becoming more mindful. I also started a journaling practice at home, recommended by Julie and this was a great reflection exercise. I also enjoyed the yoga component in the class. Julie has a lot of knowledge and wisdom to share about living a more balanced life. At the time that I was attending classes, I was going through a lot of stress in my life. These classes were very beneficial for me, and helped my mind and body to relax. Julie is a very kind friend and was very supportive of what I was going through. Thank you Julie!

Therapeutic Touch
I work in Long Term Care as a recreationist and we really enjoyed having Julie at the home to do Therapeutic Touch. She was able to quickly connect with the residents and make them feel comfortable. Initially, a few residents were hesitant and unsure of what to expect from Therapeutic Touch. However, after the session they stated that they felt better and more relaxed. It was mentioned that watching someone else receive therapeutic touch was relaxing. We also had two residents verbalize that they noticed less pain the week after the session. Overall, it was highly beneficial and we look forward to having Julie at the home every month.
